My approach toward this medium is to manipulate the boundaries of photographic foundations, while simultaneously being constricted to the size of the negative. “The Elements of Design” are selectively represented and altered throughout my choices of subject matter. The “play” of lights and darks within the black and white format, is demonstrated by using the white sky against a darker subject matter, producing a grayscale.
Subject matter is void of human representation and modern invention. Natural materials of stone, wood, and water provide a primitive feeling and variety of textures. Abstract works always contain photographic foundations, while producing a never-ending visual journey.
